In July 2001 we set sail from our home port, Niagara on the Lake, Ontario, Canada. We had taken early retirement, purchased Chinook, sold our house and all our possessions, given the kids the cars and waved friends and family goodbye, embarking on a lifestyle that we were excited about. So far, after almost twelve years, it has all been so very good and we are still very excited.

Chinook has taken us along the St. Lawrence River, down the New York Canal System connecting to the Hudson River, the 1000 mile trek down the U.S. Intracoastal Waterway to Florida crossing the Gulf Stream to the Bahamas. The Turks and Caicos islands were next, and the 2002 hurricane season was spent hidden safely in the Dominican Republic. On to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, then she slowly island-hopped down the Caribbean to Grenada for the 2003 hurricane season. Meandering back up the islands Chinook launched off from St. Maarten to cross the Atlantic in May 2004. For three months she cruised the beautiful Azores, before the leg to Europe.
After 18 500 nautical miles to date (June, 2013) we are currently in Malaysia having sailed in the Mediterranean for seven years, visiting Morocco, Tunisia, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Croatia, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Syria, Lebanon, then through the Suez Canal to Egypt, Jordan, some "desert sailing" to the UAE, down the west coast of India, to the Maldives and then to our present postion.

More than eager to share our experiences with family and friends, "blogging" (or, in our case, boat-logging) seems to be a great way to do this. Please enjoy vicariously!
